Patrick A. Kopke-Hales, Candidate for Oregon Governor

About Patrick A. Kopke-Hales

I am a lifelong Oregonian, born and raised here. I have lived across the state in Portland, Beaverton, Tualatin, Rainier, Scappoose, and Southeast Portland, as well as in Longview, Battle Ground, and Vancouver, Washington. I have also lived in Texas and Indiana, in addition to my time serving in the military.

From 1988 to 1996, I served in the United States Air Force where I was stationed at Lackland AFB in Texas, Sheppard AFB in Texas, McChord AFB in Washington, Clark AB in the Republic of the Philippines, and Travis AFB in California. My service instilled in me a deep commitment to leadership, discipline, and integrity that I carry with me to this day.

I worked in aerospace as a mechanic when I served, as well as in construction, logistics, information technology, and mental health. I am a state-certified mental health counselor working primarily with veterans and first responders. I also serve as a rural firefighter and volunteer counselor.

I returned to college and earned my degree in Human Services, graduating with high honors and multiple Dean’s List distinctions. I completed 120 hours of Peer Wellness Support Specialist training and 80 hours in Group Facilitation and Leadership. While serving in the Air Force, I also attended NCO Professional Military Education (PME), a leadership program that prepared me for leadership roles both in and out of uniform.

I am a Christian man who believes in the founding principles of our nation: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. I believe every person has the right to walk their own path guided by faith, conscience, and conviction. I have never been relieved of the oath I took to defend the Constitution of the United States, and I continue to honor it today.
